Religious Education (RE) for children and youth will resume this year with in-person sessions. We also provide sacramental preparation for adults who desire to become Catholic. The school year begins in September and ends in May.
Note the Church defines an adult as anyone over the age of seven with the use of reason (c. 852 §1). There are 2 paths for the sacramental preparation for those over the age of reason who wish to receive the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist): Order of Christian Initiation for Children-OCIC (8-17 years old) & Order of Christian Initiation for Adult-OCIA (18 years old and older).
The Diocese of Honolulu celebrates First Holy Communion and Confirmation together at the Age of Reason, which is 7 years old and in second grade.
